Start
It’s been six years since I first performed the music on my album “Daughters in His Kingdom” and released the accompanying CD. I created a presentation with quotes, words from the book that inspired the songs (Daughters in My Kingdom: The History and Work of Relief Society), and my own experiences in an effort to share these glorious messages with as many as would listen!
Someone Like Me
“Someone Like Me” is the second song that I began to work on in my Daughters in His Kingdom set. The story that inspired its lyrics was the first to really light a fire of inspiration in my heart.
Look to the Light
The Relief Society was organized on March 17, 1842. By August of that same year, their membership reached over 1,100 women.
Circle of Sisters
As each generation of Relief Society follows in the footsteps of the generations before them, our circle of influence has increased. We are now a worldwide circle of sisters.
Sweet is the Work
In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, members are given many opportunities to minister to one another as the Savior did. Recently, the program formally referred to as Home and Visiting Teaching was retired, and simple Ministering took its place.
Power of God
President Gordon B. Hinckley taught: “There is strength and great capacity in the women of this Church. There is leadership and direction, a certain spirit of independence, and yet great satisfaction in being a part of this, the Lord’s kingdom, and of working hand in hand with the priesthood to move it forward.”
Heaven Every Day
Women have such strength and power in the home. Whether married or widowed, single or divorced, we women have been given the sacred task to love and lead those within our sphere of influence.
Daughters in His Kingdom
After I had finished my first reading of the book Daughters in My Kingdom: The History and Work of Relief Society, this is the first song that started to come to my mind and heart. I was very new to songwriting. I’d only ever completed and shared ONE song before sitting down to notate this one.
His Daughter
All of the songs on my album, “Daughters in His Kingdom”, are part of a presentation that I put together based on inspiration I felt from reading the Relief Society manual Daughters in My Kingdom: The History and Work of Relief Society.
Something Other Than “The Easter Bunny”
First things first… I am not a holiday “Scrooge”. I love holidays. I’m far from being the “holiday mom”, but I love that holidays give us a great opportunity to take a step back, reflect upon the season, and spend time with the folks that matter most.
Experience “Daughters in His Kingdom”
Personal experience. It is incredibly valuable and is something that no one can take away from you. But it is also something that you can never completely share with others.
Better Late Than Never
First of all, I have to let you know how remarkable I think my neighborhood is. So many truly talented women live within blocks of my house. Just to give you a small idea of how incredible these ladies really are, I’m going to give you a simple run-down of some facts regarding my album (by the way, have you heard it yet?!!).
